26 Notes to Self: Read this every morning for a week. Watch what happens …
☔️ One rainy morning in the Daybreaker office in Brooklyn, New York, a team member shared four “notes to self” she had written that morning. In a quest for self improvement, she had started using her mornings to be introspective and put her pen to her paper and her ear to her soul.
✨ We became inspired and collected 22 more “notes to self” from various people with various backgrounds and experiences. The following is a curation of all the best advice they could wish for themselves and others. We share them with you, fam, in hopes that it’s useful to your life today. Take what you like and leave the rest.❤️
💥 Read these every morning for one week and watch what happens.
Notes to self 🗒
One // Be more open and take initiative. Do more things and invite people to come with you.
Two // Make time to do the things that are important to you. Working on your own artwork. Reading more books. Connecting with other people. Find what matters the most to you and do it.
Three // Be more caring and carefree. If someone doesn’t like you—that’s okay. Let it flow past you. Don’t dwell on it. Stop trying to relive the past. Don’t yearn for it. Cherish the present moment and find the opportunity that is being offered.
Four // Be resilient and accountable. Do the things you say you will do. Make it your mission. Persevere. Don’t feel like doing it? Be strong. Unfeel those feels.
Five // Worry less. Remember a time when worrying has improved your situation — I bet you can’t. 😉
Six // Have more fun. Because after all, wouldn’t you rather be with people who are enjoying themselves? Each moment has beauty to offer. See if you can find it.
Seven // Honor your desires. If you feel like a change is on the horizon, appreciate it. Don’t be so impatient. Let it unfold and trust that it will. Don’t let anticipation of the future steal your presence in the now.
Eight // Be kind.
Nine // Be your own best friend. Refuse to speak anything less than highly of yourself, even in your own head. Talk to yourself only in the way you’d talk to your future (or current) son or daughter.
Ten // Find what matters the most to you and do it. That is all.
Eleven // Be nice to your body. Drink more water than you think is enough — nourish it with love, gratitude and nutrients.
Twelve // Be present and open to others. Be curious about what they have to say. Listen to them when they speak. Focus only on them and give them your undivided attention.
Thirteen // Know when to talk and when to just listen. Sometimes it’s just about observing your surroundings or letting something sink in.
Fourteen // Let yourself be confused, bewildered, befuddled or bedazzled (we’re kidding about that last one 😜 ). You don’t have to have all the answers right now. It’s ok not to know.
Fifteen // When your heart gives a “hell YES!” go at it with passion, no matter what other people think. You were given your impulses, desires and passions for a reason. Follow them hard, live out loud and revel in each juicy moment.
Sixteen // Stop letting negative thoughts weigh you down. If you are experiencing negativity or replaying a negative experience over and over, go outside, stretch, breathe. You are in control of your thoughts and therefore, you are in control of your life.
Seventeen // Give someone the benefit of the doubt.
Eighteen // Say thank you. Find someone who has impacted your life, and give them a big thank you. Do this more often and acknowledge these people more in general.
Nineteen // Be willing to see this differently. It’s possible to see through any situation and notice a great lesson at play. Sometimes the most uncomfortable life stuff is what heals you the most.
Twenty // Focus on all that you do have instead of all that you want. All that you want will come when you are in a flow of happiness and gratitude.
Twenty One // Be unpredictable. Stray from your norm. Walk to the restroom backwards just to shake things up a bit. If people ask what you’re doing say, “I like to see where I’ve been.” (Thank you for that one, Stuart Wilde. 🙏 )
Twenty Two // Think about one person and list 10 things you love about them in your head. Stop finding the flaws.
Twenty Three // Pat yourself on the back. Find one thing that you like about yourself and acknowledge how awesome you are for it. Use it as your launching pad when you’re remembering you can do anything you aspire to.
Twenty Four // Be satisfied with not being satisfied. Know that it’s natural to always want something more, something new or whatever’s next. It’s just your internal compass telling you where to go — follow it to your next great adventure.
Twenty Five // Go with the flow. Be spontaneous. Agree to last minute plans. You will remember the time spent with friends.
Twenty Six // Follow your inspiration even when it doesn’t make sense. Trust that you’re a creative being, celebrate the path you intuitively create and devour every last bit.
